Registering your business
All of the gift card programmes are managed by participating towns and cities.
The gift card is a prepaid Mastercard, making it easy for you to participate, however rules about which businesses are eligible to accept the cards vary by programme.

The Scotland Loves Local Gift Card launched for business registrations in July. We would like every business in Scotland to be able to benefit from this innovative scheme.

By participating in the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card, Scottish local authorities can help businesses in their region unlock a new level of local spending.
To confirm the participation of your local authority in this scheme, we ask you to sign the which gives the support of your local authority for:
- Use of the Gift Card in the local authority area – in so doing, promoting the sale, use and circulation of gift cards in your local authority area.
- Promotion of registration and onboarding to the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card scheme amongst outlets, merchants and attractions in the local authority area.
- Working with our partners to launch the gift card in your local authority area. Our partners can provide support with communications activities, including provision of launch packs, drafting and distribution of news releases, and local photographer support.
- Provision of content for a landing page specific to your local authority area to encourage use of the Gift Card in your local authority area. The content required will be your local authority logo and any introductory content you wish to display on the landing page.
Further to your local authority signing the concordat, a member of our team will be in touch directly with you to discuss arrangements for launching and implementing the Gift Card in your local authority area.
The objective of the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card is to keep spending local for longer, empowering gift card recipients to treat themselves to the best retail, hospitality and experiences on offer in their area. This is therefore a fantastic opportunity to promote your town, encouraging people to visit and spend in the area.
The registration process for businesses is quick and easy. We are asking for the support of BIDs in promoting registration to the gift card initiative amongst businesses in their BID via the registration platform.
Once a business has registered it means that gift card recipients will be able to spend their gift card in that business, and they will appear on the relevant map and listings.
To drive footfall and Scotland Loves Local Gift Card spend in your town, you can set up a bespoke town page on the Scotland Gifts Local platform where cards can be purchased from.
We will create a specific page on the Scotland Loves Local card website which will contain:
- Promotional copy
- Images to show off your town
- Interactive map and listings of participating businesses
