Scotland Loves Local Week 2026 : Here’s how you can get involved

  • By Scotland’s Town Centre Recovery Campaign
  • on April 16, 2026
  • in Scotland Loves Local, Scotland Loves Local Gift Card, Scotland Loves Local Partners, Scotland's Towns, Scottish Government, Shop Local, Small Businesses, Towns and Communities

The countdown has begun for Scotland Loves Local Week 2026.

From Saturday June 13 until Saturday June 20, the team at Scotland’s Towns Partnership is championing the message for us all to choose local.

The theme of this year’s activity is ‘Flying the Flag for Local Businesses’, as the activity will take place as the country gets behind Scotland in the 2026 World Cup.

By flying a flag for local businesses and championing the ‘choose local’ message, the week is all about the drive for people to build stronger, more sustainable futures for their community by supporting businesses in their area.

During Scotland Loves Local Week, you can show your support by:

  • Making even just one extra visit to businesses in your community and spend a little with them.
  • Showing how much your favourite local business means to you by taking a photograph and posting it on social media using the hashtags #ScotlandLovesLocal, #ChooseLocal and #FlyingtheFlagforLocal
  • Encouraging organisations in your community to spread the word about choosing local. We have assets that they can use to do that which are available to download here.
  • Showing your love for local businesses through the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card, either buying one for a friend or loved one, urging your employer to use it as a corporate reward or signing your business up to accept it (more details are available at www.lovelocal.scot/giftcard).

When we love local, we can create better places to live, work and visit. By supporting local, we are choosing to back local businesses and the people behind them. Together, we can build stronger communities for a more sustainable future.

Scotland Loves Local is supported by the Scottish Government.
