The second annual Scotland Loves Local Week will take place from August 26th until September 1st 2024.
The week shines a spotlight on the critical difference that choosing local can mean to the future of communities – as well as showcasing the tremendous work taking place across the country to build stronger and more sustainable places.
It is organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP), the voice of the country’s towns, championing their place at the heart of the nation and advocating their pivotal role in a stronger and more sustainable future.
STP spearheads Scotland Loves Local with the support of the Scottish Government, as a means to boost national and local economies and improve places by galvanising support for the people and businesses in them – protecting jobs and safeguarding services.
Last year’s inaugural Scotland Loves Local Week was a tremendous success, bringing issues affecting towns and places to the fore among politicians and in the media.
It provides a tremendous platform for community-led regeneration initiatives, improvement districts, local councils and others to highlight their work and the difference that support from residents makes to them.
STP is encouraging them to use the week to invite MSPs, MPs and others to visit them and to find out more about their work.
They can then spread the #ScotlandLovesLocal #ChooseLocal message by sharing details of the events on social media.
Organisations are also being involved to fly the flag for their community during the week by organising events such as Scotland Loves Local markets to showcase local producers and makers or by running awareness-raising social media campaigns.
Details will also soon be revealed about the Scotland Loves Local Pledge, through which people and organisations of all kinds can demonstrate their commitment to choosing local.
No matter where you are, there is a chance to get involved – and it need not be time-consuming.
The team at STP is available to help support any activities, whether that be through sharing campaign collateral or by getting hands-on to help with some organisation and promotion.
