Businesses in Dundee highlighted the transformational impact of choosing local as part of Scotland Loves Local Week 2025.
The message to think local first is reinforced in Dundee through the Scotland Loves Local Dundee Gift Card, which was relaunched in July 2025 to lead a renewed push to keep spending local, secure jobs and support businesses across the city. Over 200 businesses already accept the card, and the number continues to grow.
Convener of the Fair Work, Economic Growth & Infrastructure committee Councillor Steven Rome said:
“Dundee is home to a fantastic array of local businesses. The Dundee Gift Card has been a great way of showcasing what the city has to offer, and keeping that spend within the local economy.”
Owner of plant shop The Botanist and the Bee Eliza Serban is one of the many city businesses that accepts the gift card:
“Being part of the gift card scheme has allowed us to reach new customers – we have had people coming in saying they didn’t realise we were here.
“Anything that supports small businesses like ours is a positive thing for the city.”

Meanwhile, the impact of spending £1 more a week with local businesses could boost the Dundee economy by £7.7m, as figures revealed by Scotland’s Towns Partnership ahead of Scotland Loves local Week highlights the massive potential for the region’s economy.

Scotland Loves Local is supported by the Scottish Government and spearheaded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership. The theme of activity this year is People Make Places. You can find out more about getting involved here.
