Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across Scotland are highlighting their commitment to choosing local by signing up to the Scotland Loves Local Pledge.

The pledge is a commitment to thinking local first to help protect jobs, safeguard businesses and build a stronger, more sustainable future for communities across the country.

By signing up, BIDs are highlighting their daily support for enterprises in their community, as well as signalling the fact that they will encourage their members to support other local businesses whenever it is possible for them to do so.

The pledges are being signed in and around Scotland Loves Local Week (August 26 – September 1).

Below are a selection of photographs from pledge signings so far. We will add to this gallery as more BIDs take the pledge.

Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) – which is also the parent organisation of Scotland’s Improvement Districts, which supports BIDs across the country – spearheads Scotland Loves Local with support from the Scottish Government.

Chief officer Kimberley Guthrie said: “We are delighted to see so many business improvement districts supporting the Scotland Loves Local Pledge, publicly demonstrating their commitment to supporting other local businesses.

“Improvement districts are forces for good in their own right. But making that commitment to support other businesses shows how their benefits are far-reaching beyond their physical boundaries.

“At the same time, it’s important that residents support local businesses so that they can support each other. It’s a cycle that keeps money local for longer and opens so many opportunities.”

Throughout Scotland Loves Local Week, People are being invited to share images and details of great businesses and organisations that make their home area so special, using the hashtags #ScotlandLovesLocal and #ChooseLocal.
