The vision and investment to revitalise Perth is poised to inspire communities across Scotland when the city hosts a significant showcase.
Perth Concert Hall will be the venue for the 2024 Scotland’s Towns Conference (STC24) on Wednesday, November 27.
Speakers will include Scotland’s Minister for Employment and Investment, Tom Arthur MSP, with delegates travelling from across the country to take part.
The theme for the event, organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) – the organisation behind Scotland Loves Local – in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council, will be Investing in Our Assets for Sustainable Towns of the Future.
Set against the backdrop of significant asset investment in Perth, STC24 will highlight the importance of cultural, built, and natural assets in driving economic, social, and environmental progress in Scotland’s towns and places.
It comes just a few months after Perth Museum opened to the public following the completion of a £27 million transformation from the former City Hall. The Museum, which has already welcomed over 80,000 visitors, is the new home of the Stone of Destiny and complements other cultural projects in Perth such as the Concert Hall and Perth Theatre.
It will also feature other inspirational examples from throughout Scotland.
Councillor Grant Laing, Leader of Perth and Kinross Council, said: “This will be a fantastic event that will allow us to showcase our investment in Perth city centre – from the Concert Hall itself to the wonderful new, £27 million Perth Museum which opened earlier this year.
“We all want our town and city centres to thrive and we are keen to hear from other areas how they are responding to the challenges we all face and to learn from each other’s successes.”
The Scotland’s Towns Conference is STP’s flagship gathering of stakeholders from across the various sectors and organisations involved in supporting the nation’s towns and places.
STP Chief Officer Kimberley Guthrie said: “We cannot wait to bring the Scotland’s Towns Conference to Perth. So much of what has been achieved across the city in recent years highlights the art of the possible in terms of rejuvenating our places.
“The conference is a chance to shine a spotlight on that – an opportunity for people from across the country to hear about what’s happened, how it’s happened and get them thinking about what they can learn from that to help take their community forward.”
