GO Radio presenter Gina McKie is showing off the marvels of Milngavie as part of the Scotland Loves Local campaign.
The station’s afternoon show host is fronting a new video featuring some of her hometown’s brilliant businesses, encouraging others to choose local.
Scotland Loves Local has teamed up with GO Radio to promote the campaign, of which Milngavie Business Improvement District and its members have been vocal and high-profile supporters.
Gina said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to show off some of the great people and businesses which make the community in Milngavie so special. It’s a brilliant place. I love living here.
“Wherever you live, it’s never been more important to choose local and get behind businesses of every kind in your area, both to repay the remarkable loyalty they’ve shown us during the coronavirus pandemic and to help them build for the future. Our communities will be all the better for it.”
Among the businesses owners featured is Elaine Mosson, of Avec Panache on Mugdock Road.
She said: “The whole shopping experience has changed again, the way it used to be when people would shop local again. They’re back again, which is fantastic. They’re enjoying it and the whole atmosphere is lovely.”
Nearby clothing store No 1 also features.
Lorna Booth, one of the team there, told Gina: “More and more we’re seeing people wanting to shop local, which is great for us. We want to keep that going.”

Wendy Ross is owner of Driftwood and Ruby Red on Main Street, as well as being a Director of Milngavie Business Improvement District and a prominent supporter of the Scotland Loves Local campaign.
She said: “In Milngavie we have a fantastic range of independents and nationals – a huge variety of businesses. We are a thriving village at the moment. We’ve seen a huge difference with people supporting local and realising what’s here.”
Businesses in Milngavie also recently helped support the Scottish Government’s Scotland Loves Local Fund, which will make £2m available this financial year for projects to transform towns and neighbourhoods.
Scotland Loves Local is spearheaded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and champions the message for people to “choose local”. Tune into Gina McKie between 2pm and 6pm each weekday to hear more.
