Businesses across Glasgow are being urged to continue signing up so that they can benefit from a multi-million pound injection into the city’s economy through the Scotland Loves Local Glasgow Gift Card.
Glasgow City Council has distributed Scotland Loves Local Glasgow Gift Cards – worth £105 each – to 85,000 eligible low income households across the city. Those cards have started arriving at peoples’ homes.
Their initiative uses coronavirus economic recovery funding from the Scottish Government to help businesses battling back from the consequences of the pandemic, while also helping residents with the cost of living crisis.
More than 700 businesses have already signed up to accept the card – some of whom you can see in our picture gallery.
Their enthusiastic support – and calls for people to choose local for the long-term to create a swell of support to build a stronger future for Glasgow – is acting as a real call to action for residents.
And, with the recruitment of businesses to accept the card continuous, many more are being urged to follow them to ensure they too benefit. Anyone can do that by clicking here.
While Glasgow City Council are harnessing the power of the gift cards to use them as a means through which they can directly support residents and businesses, the cards are also available for anyone to buy.
Local gift card schemes are available in every region of Scotland. To find out how to register your business – or to buy a card – in any area, head to www.lovelocal.scot/giftcard.
