The warmth and welcome of Oban has been celebrated far and wide as the community was crowned as Town of the Year in the 2024 Scotland Loves Local Awards.
Speaking to Scotland Loves Local ambassador Sean Batty, David Adams McGilp, VisitScotland‘s Regional Director for Argyll and Isles, shared some of what be believes makes the town – and the surrounding region – so special.
He said: “When you find yourself in Oban, you find yourself in a special, warm and welcoming place.”
David was among those who celebrated the news of Oban’s victory when Sean – alongside Scotland’s Towns Partnership chief officer Kimberley Guthrie – visited the town to present community leaders with the award.
And he added: “A shopping expedition to Oban is more enjoyable because it’s Oban – because the people make it so special.”
